Lions Birthday Party

It was your local Lions birthday party on Saturday 28th March. Once again we were royally treated at the Wellington Arms in Stratfield Turgis and joined by Lions from our neighbouring clubs to celebrate the 22 years that Hook & Odiham has had its very own Lions Club.

After an excellent 3 course dinner and a few suspect speeches, music was provided by ‘Solo' so that Lions club members and their partners and friends could prance .... sorry, dance, till midnight.

You know, Lions club members really are quite good at supporting their local community, but when it comes to making speeches and dancing, they are certainly in another league ... unfortunately a very low one!

 Barn Dance

Did you go to the Lions Barn Dance on April 4th in Elizabeth Hall in Hook? If you did, you would have been one of over one hundred people who came along and danced late into the evening to an excellent group of folk musicians called Rogues Gallery. From 7.30 till 11.30 there was hardly a space on the dance floor to whirl your partner or shout Yee-har! In fact the only time there was a space and little quiet was around 9 pm when everybody was busy tucking into their ploughman's lunch that lady Lions had been busy preparing since 7 o'clock.

The evening made a profit of just over £600 which will go into your Local Lions Charity Fund to provide help and assistance to others less fortunate. Thanks to everybody who came along, bought a drink (or two), a raffle ticket (or two) and had fun whilst supporting Lions.

Our sincere thanks also go to Trees the Newsagent for their valuable assistance in selling tickets on our behalf. Thanks very much, we appreciate your help!!!

Paulton's Park Sunday 17 May

At the time of going to press I'm not sure how many spaces are left on the coach, but if you would like to go to Paulton's Park and think you qualify, then please give a call in confidence to Lion Shirley on the Lion Phone and she will let you know if there is any more room. A fun day out for single parent families and families down on their luck. We have even ordered packed lunches and sunshine!!!!
