Once again Hook & Odiham Lions are delighted to be assisting Hart Rotary with the 2009 Hartley Wintney Festival which takes place on Saturday June 13th on Oak Common, in Hartley Wintney. The Festival begins at 12.30 pm and this year's float procession theme is "Heroes and Villains" which starts in Green Lane, crosses Fleet Road and proceeds around the village green and then back to the Festival arena for the awards.

There will be a full programme of Arena events. During the Festival there will be a musical display by the Old Basing Royal British Legion Corps of Drums, Hillbillies Western Act, "Norman the Doorman" on the trampoline, Hook Eagles Morris Men, and, of course, the ever popular Tug of War (ladies and men) and Children's Races.

Whilst this is all going on in the arena there will be lots of other entertainment throughout the afternoon for the children including, a Circus Workshop, The Pinxton Puppet Show, Animals to cuddle and groom at Miller's Ark Animal Farm, Face Painting, Bouncy Castle, Sumo Wrestling, Beat the Goalie (or is this for dads), Mini Fairground, etc.
There will be the usual range of stalls that you would expect to find at a village festival, many of which are run by the local clubs and societies.

Refreshments for all ages will be well catered for. There will be freshly cooked burgers and sausages, home baked cakes, soft drinks, teas, and ice cream. When you're ready to take the weight off your feet you can sit down in the Beer Tent and relax listening to the Dixieland Jazz Band.

The Festival is a real family affair where you can be assured a great day out and we look forward to seeing many of you there again this year.

The profit from the sale of programmes together with all the proceeds from the street collection during the Procession will go to Odiham Cottage Hospital. Any other profit from the Festival will go to local and international good causes.
For full details and timing of all the events please purchase a Festival Programme (still only £1), on sale from the end of May and on the day.

Lions Helping Others

Sometimes the help that your local Lions club give is indirect help and helps other groups to help others. For example in May we assisted as marshals for the Hook Fun Run and for Windsor Lions with the Horse Trials in Windsor Great Park.
In June we will assist Hart Rotary with the HW Festival (see above). In August we have been asked to assist the local Neurofibromatosis fundraising team with their Jazz Festival (yes, back by popular demand).
