New Members

Our club continues to grow and we are pleased to welcome Chris Houillon who has already made many positive contributions to the club.

Here's a round up of what we've been doing since the last report...

Odiham Jazz Evening

We supported this year's Odiham Jazz Festival on 29th August at the Chalk Pits. We helped staff the bar, provided car parking attendants and helped with ticket sales. It was not all work, we enjoyed a great picnic, great music and meeting some great people.

Car Boot Sales

We've been busy raising money by selling all manner of things at car boot sales, the most improbable sale was a skipping rope to an 88 year old

lady!

Announcing the Lions Youth Poetry Competition

Lions clubs across the district are holding a Youth Poetry competition. There are 3 age categories from 7-10, 11-16, & 17-18. The closing date for entries is 30th November 2009, winners from each local Lions club will be entered into the district competition where there will be a prize for the winner of each age group.

Can we help a Group or Individual you know?

The Hook and Odiham Lions Club is always keen to hear about groups or individuals in our community that we may be able to help.  Please contact our welfare officer via the Lion Phone on  07817 886 002

I'll provide an update on where the money we raise is being spent next month.

Are you interested to help others in your Community?

Why not take a look at the Lions to see how you can help us to help others, there are so many ways you can contribute, including:

• donating your old glasses, we can re-cycle them enabling someone else to see clearly.
• donating your unwanted furniture, we can give it to someone locally who really needs it.
• donating your time, if you have some free time we'll know someone you could help

Please contact us to see how you can help, or to discuss coming along to one of our lively meetings. We have many social activities, as well as those aimed at helping others, so come and see if you'd like to join in. We meet on the 3rd Monday of each month in the Raven Hotel, Hook at 8PM.
