Village Connect Trail mapIntroduction

The Village Connect Trail is on mainly footpaths, covering 16 miles in length connecting Hartley Wintney, Hook and Odiham and has been produced as a post COVID opportunity for our communities to get out in the fresh air and raise money through sponsorship for our local schools.

The Hook & Odiham Lions Club and Rotary Club of Odiham and Hook have organised this event with the help of other Village Connect partners and schools, and like other charitable organisations have had almost no fund-raising events for more than a year but identified this opportunity to assist local schools directly, who themselves have faced quite unique challenges during the pandemic.  The event will take place on 25th  & 26th September 2021 and start at a place on the route and a time of your choosing. (Please note stamping stations opening and closing times.)

How it works

Anyone and everyone who is fit and able enough and has an interest in helping a local school of their choice, whether they are current or past pupils, parents, teachers, local clubs and organisations, anyone interested in our local schools, or who perhaps just want a pleasant walk in our beautiful local countryside are invited to enter this event. We've created a trail map and instructions for you, your job to raise sponsorship money, either as a fixed amount for your participation or on an amount per mile basis. (See stamping stations details for distances).

Participants, as groups or individuals, will start walking from any of the three Rotary and Lions Gazebos situated in either Odiham, Hook or Hartley Wintney that is convenient to them, in either direction on the route and at a time on the day that they choose.  It could be that you just want to go with the family for a short walk, maybe have a picnic somewhere, or perhaps walk from one village to the next, or if you feel fit enough complete the whole trail!

At locations along the trail there will be Stamping Stations, e.g., participating shops, cafes, or pubs, where you will be able to get your Stamping Station List stamped to certify that you have passed that place on your walk, and perhaps take some refreshment while you are there.  The stamp will provide evidence for your sponsors of the distance that you have walked, or just provide a souvenir of the day.
