Please read the full Health and Safety instructions carefully - it includes some useful information
Please be extra careful when walking along roads, especially winding country lanes, and on uneven footpaths. BEWARE of danger from fast cars travelling particularly if you choose an alternative route. Better to try to stay on the route shown on the map which avoids as many roads as possible.
Take extra care when crossing roads - look right, left, then right again - don't run - all cross together as soon as it is safe to do so if you are in a group.
Please always walk towards oncoming traffic, i.e., on the right hand side of the road.
Always follow the Countryside code
Dogs should be on leads around animals, close gates, donít leave litter, etc.
If you start as a group, then stay together, don't leave anybody behind.
Always look out for others in your group and if you see somebody else who looks like they may be in trouble, ask them if they are OK.
Carry a mobile phone in case you need help. Call the Lions using the number on the map if you have any difficulties.
Install WHAT3WORDS on your smart phone and learn how to use it. This way you can see your location within a 3-meter square which you could give to others by phone if you are lost or need assistance.
In a medical EMERGENCY phone 111 after taking careful note of your location.
Ensure you have sufficient water and snacks for your party Ė some younger members may need little incentives!
Consider the weather!
Please dress appropriately and wear boots or shoes suitable for countryside walking.
Please note that parts of this route may not be accessible with wheelchairs or pushchairs due to stiles, gates, muddy paths or overgrown paths, so it is advised that you choose routes you know to be possible. For example:
- Hook centre to The Crooked Billet
- Odiham centre to The Water Witch
- Hartley Wintney Costa Coffee to junction of Mitchell Ave and Church View
You can go back and forth as many times as you wish, clocking up the miles.
We hope you have a lovely day and raise lots of money for your local school at the same time!
